Find Your Inner Child!

Yea, remember that child?   He/she is still around, trust us on this.  :)

Take a fearless leap of faith and do something you would never do like a child does.  We forget that we're still young at heart and unfortunately our older minds get polluted with adult muck.   So get those muck boots on, clean out your pool and take a leap to reunite with that inner child that you've been neglecting.

Here are a few suggestions to help you out!

1.  Do a cannonball into a pool.
2.  Try skipping.  Remember that?  Who cares what people think.  It's YOU that matters.
3.  Watch a show that you used to watch as a child like The Brady Bunch or The Monkeys!  How about the Three Stooges for good 'ol laughter!
4.  Make some S'mores by the fire (it goes great with red wine if you must be an adult).
5.  Get outside (and away from your computers) and play outside like you used to as a kid.  Maybe play hide and seek with your own kids.
6.  Break out some Play Doh and create a work of art.

Let us know what YOU do to rediscover the child in you.

Only Love....

Hi everyone...Vintage Chick here.  I wanted to pop back in here to let everyone know we apologize for the delay in the unveiling of the 13 Steps but sadly, Spicy Chick's mother and Sassy Chick's grandmother, Julie, (who was also like a second mother to me and Apprentice Chick) passed away Sunday.   Spicy Chick was blessed to keep her promise to her mother to go through the journey of dying at home surrounded by all the people she loved and who loved her.

The one thing that I will always remember Julie by was her passionate desire to cook and to feed people.  She was Italian, after all.   :)   Every time I visited, the first thing out of Julie was "What can I fix you to eat?"  She made the best desserts too.  Julie also had a deep compassion for animals and humans alike which she nightly said prayers for.  I can see her now in Heaven feeding everyone and continuing her legacy as a loving woman with a passion for her family and for great food.

A very special quote by Johnny Depp was passed along to Spicy Chick by her sister-in-law when she heard of her mother-in-law's passing.   It goes something like this...

"There are four questions of value in life… What is sacred? Of what is the spirit made? What is worth living for, and what is worth dying for? The answer to each is the same. Only love.”

~Johnny Depp~

No wonder Spicy Chick's enchanted man is Johnny.

Always remember that no matter what the circumstances, no matter what questions you want answered...no matter what is going on in your life...your best answer is to lean towards "love."  You can't go wrong.

On a side note, Julie's husband who has also passed on (and who she is reunited with now) had a nickname for her....and that was "love."   I will miss Julie very much.

We love you, Julie.

You never know where the energy will flow!

So you better have your cup ready!

Isn't this the coolest faucet you have ever seen?   I recently stayed at a bed and breakfast in Seattle and low and behold this faucet greeted me in the bathroom.  It took me about ten minutes to figure out what faucet to use.

Have a great weekend everyone and let that good energy flow all around you!

An Enchanted Must....

Every Chick should have a pair of large basic silver hoop earrings.  I indeed do but my favorite are black and silver hoops.  A bit spicier!

Even Olivia Newton John was cool enough to wear them in Grease and we all know she caught some looks!

What kind of earrings do you consider a statement piece?

Eat Fresh!

Hi guys! Vintage Chick here. So far I've spent my summer tending to an amazing "communal" garden I share with a few of my good friends. Sharing a garden is a great idea.  It saves money in the long run from buying produce at the market, you can split the cost of just the starts and seeds (inexpensive) between friends and you harvest ALL summer long.  We have reaped some beautiful veggies so far. In addition to having some great girl time in the garden, eating fresh has truly been a good thing for my body! Eat fresh instead of canned. It can make an amazing difference in how you feel!

Aren't these the most beautiful sugar snap peas you've ever seen?

Our beans should be climbing soon..

Our first cauliflower...

Baby spinach, a great source of iron and Vitamin C...

The strawberries are peaking out...
It might not be too late to start!

An Enchanted Evening...

With the start of summer and the blog of the Enchanted Chicks, what better way to celebrate than with a fruity and refreshing drink!   Getting together with the Chicks is always focused on fun and much needed bonding but during this magical evening....we celebrated the creation of the 13 steps and the start of our journey.

A few strawberries
A few watermelon chunks
A couple of limes (for the juice)

3 shots of rum (or without if you want non-alcoholic)
Crushed ice
A few dashes of sugar

Throw them all into a blender and turn that blender on!    If you noticed, we don't list exact ingredients.   The challenge in being "enchanted" is to take that risk and throw things together without directions.  Taste every once in awhile until it tastes enchanting.   Daring, isn't it?   Now you try.  We dare you.

Stay tuned for the unveiling of the 13 Steps!

Keep soaring!

Introducing the Chicks!

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, business owner, bookkeeper, and caretaker for my mother and a multiple pet owner with a large home to take care of. I wear so many hats that there are too many to mention.  However, I do take pride in the fact that I can balance so much so well. I wouldn’t be able to do that without using the 13 steps of Enchantment.

I love decorating, animals, nature, books, learning, exploring everything from new ideas to places. I am an expressional dresser; I believe that you shouldn’t go out without lips and large earrings. I am a vegetarian, not judgmental, outgoing, a little anal and always working on being the best person I can be.

As I go through the journey of life, my goal is to do it with grace, style and spirit!

Always soaring...

Spicy Chick

**************************************

I am an old fashioned gal trying to survive in a modern world.   I go to work, go to school, craft on the side, cook, take care of three of my own cats and hundreds of others in a shelter and I find it a compliment when someone calls me the crazy cat lady!  I also love writing, gardening and dreaming and I have a passion for riding and being in the company of horses.   I am an animal activist, although not quite a vegetarian just yet.

I love anything vintage.  Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era in the wrong city; 1940’s in Paris being my first choice although I’m keen with the bohemian hippie style too!  I’m a true romantic and I try to go with the flow and see where life takes me.

However, like anyone else I am not without faults and my life is far from perfect but I am constantly working on myself.  The 13 steps are helping now and hopefully forever!

Trying to soar oh so high...

I am a businesswoman and  pet owner of two little dogs.  I love to organize and I am told that I am the goddess of organization.  I love bright vibrant colors and I have an artistic side in me that I need to explore.  I am brassy, outspoken, and too honest and I’m told I need to learn to filter.

I’m just starting my journey to living The Enchanted life.  Follow me along my path to enchantment, the struggles, the challenges, and the triumphs.  It won’t always be pretty but I promise you it will be real.  This is a challenge unlike anything I have ever undertaken before.  I truly believe our blog and the the 13 steps will help me begin to live the Enchanted life I want.

Learning to soar...

(Sassy Chick is on hiatus)

I am a mother of two daughters, a college student starting later in life, work part time and am a part time caregiver.  Being a mother of a teenage daughter is a huge undertaking on its own.  I’m a spunky gal who loves to dress funky.  Give me anything with bling!    I can tell it like it is but I’m able to do it without being offensive.

I’ve always had a challenge being able to juggle children, jobs, schools and family and consequently find myself left behind.  By using the 13 steps I’m hoping to find that perfect balance.

Starting to soar...

Sassy Chick

I’d like to introduce myself to the group, to all of our followers, and visitors. I’m a new chick on the block and have arrived to bring you variety, insight on my views, and tidbit information that will (hopefully) be entertaining and helpful to our audience, as well as allowing myself to grow and soar like my other sister chicks. I’m the Midwestern connection to the group and from time to time I’ll add a little flair sidekick to the chicks that reside in the beauty of the mountains. Smack in the middle of the US of A, the wind either blows from the north or the south to create havoc on hair do’s, attitudes and car doors that fling, It all matters how you face the wind to be successful! I’m a happy grateful single mom to a wonderful smart pre-teen boy, a full time employee that has invested 23 years (and counting) with a great company that allows me to contribute my hard learned talents to the betterment of our ever changing corporation, happily, a new homeowner as well, that leaves me feeling fulfilled that I finally have all of our beloved possessions in one spot! I’m also hearing impaired chick that lip reads, and can use my rusty sign language when needed. I have 2 wonderful hardworking twin brothers and an awesome sis-in law (Spicy Chick) that complete this small family of mine. Sadly, our mom passed away 7yrs ago and she has been missed very much. From that, I’ve learned about myself as a daughter, woman and mother. I welcome your comments, suggestions and any questions you may have. From somewhere over the rainbow, in OZ country, I am - Sunflower Chick -, who strives to soar like the happy bluebirds. Just click your heels 3 times and drop a line, I’d love to hear from ya!

Aloha from Hawaii!

I recently got married and work in the restaurant industry. I was raised in Singapore but have been living in Hawaii for 17 years. I love hanging out with my friends and spending time with my hubby, unless it's going to Home Depot.  My girlfriends and I love going out to dinners or to party events. I enjoy swimming, spin class, doing yoga, basic knitting, reading and most definitely eating. I love animals but sadly the condo I am at does not allow pets. However, I did have a cat, Milee, for 15 years and sadly she has gone to kitty Heaven this year. So, currently we are petless and childless. I try to live a zen life which also is not as easy as it sounds. I absolutely love all romantic movies!  I can't get enough of them!
 .
I think my fashion sense is a little of everything. Its definitely more on the relaxed side. I adore boho fashion, and anything simply classy though most of the time I am in pants/shorts with a white tee or tank top.

This year there have been quite a few life changing events be it good or bad.  It has definitey made me a better person and most defintely has allowed me to grow up!

Hope to soar more and more as time goes by...

Island Chick

Stay tuned for an enchanted evening....
