Welcome Fall!

The Fall squash have been harvested, the leaves are turning vibrant reds and oranges and there's a bite in the air. Although we had a short summer, we welcome Fall with open arms.   Always keep a positive attitude and don't expect what is beyond your control.  Instead, be thankful for what you have and you will never be disappointed.

I Deserve It!

Repeat after me…….  I deserve it!!  Why do I always forget I don’t need permission from anybody to make time for me…… I now know it’s a bad habit that I learned by watching and imitating from other family members while I was growing up.  They even have a name for it now, its called Co-dependency.  While I didn’t have most of the characteristics of a co-dependent person, I had enough of them that messed with my growing up and messed with my adulthood.  I came from a very dysfunctional family and I became a survivor when I was very young.  I developed behaviors that helped me get thru life by denying, ignoring and avoiding difficult emotions.  I was an expert at being able to stuff everything away into a little compartment and close the lid and not have to deal with it.   I have worked on fixing myself over the years.  I still have a few bad behaviors that I’m working on now.  That’s where the 13 steps come into play. To help me fix the few that are left.  I fixed my problem I had with  my tendency to “love” people I could pity and rescue, I fixed my problem with doing more than my share all of the time, (now I only do what “I want to do”, no more “wonder woman” for me, I know how to say no to someone with a smile on my face and have no regrets), I fixed my problem with doing anything to hold onto a bad relationship because I believed it was better to have anyone than no one, (now I have that special “someone”, my “rock”), and I fixed my problem of my fear of being alone and be abandoned.  My “rock” helped me get over my feelings of abandonment by reassuring me whenever I needed it.  Men are not mind readers, I told my “rock” what I needed and when I needed it

Now it's time for me to take a moment for myself each and every day…..

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift.

Chandelier Earrings

Now this is my kind of statement piece, big chandelier earrings.   Unlike some of my other chick sisters, I'm a little more vintage and romantic in my style and you can't go wrong with basic, black, big, chandelier earrings if you're a little old fashioned like me.  I try to wear these earrings with my hair up or in a messy bun so you can see them better.    As we say in step number 3 in the 13 Steps to the Path of Enchantment....dress for yourself!    Wearing these earrings make me feel romantic, beautiful and ready to kiss a fool.  Heck, I don't even need to have a fool around to feel good about myself.  :)

My personal chandelier earrings

Angie Harmon always looks great in chandelier earrings
Chandelier earrings makes Aishwarya Rai more classic than she already is!

Do you have a statement piece?  Tell us about it.

A New Chick Has Hatched!

I’d like to introduce myself to the group, to all of our followers, and visitors. I’m a new chick on the block and have arrived to bring you variety, insight on my views, and tidbit information that will (hopefully) be entertaining and helpful to our audience, as well as allowing myself to grow and soar like my other sister chicks. I’m the Midwestern connection to the group and from time to time I’ll add a little flair sidekick to the chicks that reside in the beauty of the mountains. Smack in the middle of the US of A, the wind either blows from the north or the south to create havoc on hair do’s, attitudes and car doors that fling, It all matters how you face the wind to be successful! I’m a happy grateful single mom to a wonderful smart pre-teen boy, a full time employee that has invested 23 years (and counting) with a great company that allows me to contribute my hard learned talents to the betterment of our ever changing corporation, happily, a new homeowner as well, that leaves me feeling fulfilled that I finally have all of our beloved possessions in one spot! I’m also hearing impaired chick that lip reads, and can use my rusty sign language when needed. I have 2 wonderful hardworking twin brothers and an awesome sis-in law (Spicy Chick) that complete this small family of mine. Sadly, our mom passed away 7yrs ago and she has been missed very much. From that, I’ve learned about myself as a daughter, woman and mother. I welcome your comments, suggestions and any questions you may have. From somewhere over the rainbow, in OZ country, I am - Sunflower Chick - who strives to soar like the happy bluebirds. Just click your heels 3 times and drop a line, I’d love to hear from ya!
